Dance Lab: Clowning for Consent

So you want to be a great bystander at parties, do ya? The solution is to release the clown inside! Join Ania, clown instructor, and Emma, consent and safety educator, as we explore clowning best practices and how you can clown your way to party safety.

Dancing with Ideas: A Conversation on Consent

How do we understand consent, power, and agency in dance from the rehearsal to the class to the nightclub? You are invited to listen in on a roundtable discussion on issues of consent in dance featuring perspectives from choreography, contact improvisation, dance education, and nightlife. If we choose to ask our body and the bodies of others to create our art/work/joy, we must also choose to build our muscle of communicating about consent.

Participating in a panel with Mayfield Brooks, Aiano Nakagawa, and Randy Reyes.

Creating a Culture of Consent: A Long Table Conversation with House of Yes

House of Yes is excited to host a discussion about consent and creating safer spaces, a topic that is deeply important to this theatre-infused nightclub and creative collective based in Brooklyn. As one of the only venues in New York City that employs a trained team to help promote affirmative consent on the dance floor, House of Yes has spent 3 years crafting and refining a consent program to fit the needs of the growing venue and global movement. Their consent program has been featured in outlets such as the BBC, NBC, New Yorker, NPR, and Vice. The program is dynamic and open to continual feedback.
