No Scrubs: A Community Discussion on Consent

Remember that week that everyone cared about consent? When, uh, what’s his name? Crapstick? was found to be a sexual predator, and we were all like >:{ ! Well over here at Dubday (and in the NYC bass music community at large), we still care about the topic of consent (surprise!). So, we’ve come together to figure out what ways we can address this topic as a community and our first step in this process is just having a little chat about it to see what we’re all thinking and feeling.

This week, Dubday will be host to a low-key community discussion on the topic of consent. We are proud to have the discussion guided by Emma Kaywin, a Sex and Consent Educator working toward a doctorate in Health Education at the Teachers College @ Columbia University (EdD), to help focus the conversation and share some wisdom about how we can all do better for each other when it comes to consent. You may recognize her handiwork if you’ve ever gone to a House of Yes: House of Love event, where she provides consent education at the door, or at Meso Creso and Ecstatic Dance NYC parties where she leads safe spaces teams. She is a shining light in our community and we are very grateful to welcome her!
